Hello Moto!

For the phone that I was going to “declare” for the office, I decided on a Motorola V6. Seeing as I had been a faithful Nokia user for over 10 years, I thought it would be fun to try a different brand this time around. Based on reviews on the net, most people found it great. It helped, too, that it was lightweight AND easy on the eyes:

I was supposed to have had a happy post about this about a month and a half ago but Globe Telecom washed all hopes of that down the drain. As their loyalty reward for my having been a subscriber for the past 6 years, they offered to give me a free phone, much like what happened with my SMART subscription. However, this “reward” turned out to be a nightmare!First off, they promised to deliver the new phone to my house within a week from their phone confirmation. Did this happen? No! After a week and some days without the expected deliver, I followed up with their customer service and only then did I find out that the unit was unavailable and they still did not know when the next shipment was coming in. Uh, care to run that by me again? So fine, I waited another 2 weeks before deciding to make another follow-up. Customer service then said there were already units available a week before but that the loyalty rewards unit may just have just missed out on my name. I was advised to await for the unit within one week (they said it took 5 working days for the request to be processed). The phone was finally delivered to my house late afternoon of May 10th. I only got to charge it in the evening and try it out the next day. Lo and behold, after initial start-up, the phone went dead – as in no lights, wouldn’t charge, no response at all! So I called it in again to complain. They advised me to bring it to the nearest service center as it was still within the 7-day warranty.

I wasn’t able to bring it in until Black Saturday (due to the observance of Holy Week) and the service center told me there were no units available (again!). They said they would just call me once there was a unit available. Not one call/text from anyone within one week so I decided to make another follow-up. I was already kinda pissed seeing as I was already being charged for a phone which I wasn’t even using yet so I let the person on the other end of the line feel how frustrated I was. I said if I didn’t get a replacement unit within a couple of days, I was going to cancel my subscription. That seemed to work as I got a call the next day saying I could come over to the service center and pick-up my replacement unit.

I went home with the new unit happily. After charging and testing it, I felt everything was as it should be. Unfortunately, that feeling did not last. During the weekend, my phone died again! It had the exact same symptoms as the first phone! Aaaargh! It was a good thing it happened on the last day of the warranty or else I would have had a bigger problem! So back I trooped to the service center to complain about it. Good thing they didn’t give me the song-and-dance routine I was expecting or that would have been the last straw. They immediately gave me another new unit which they said should be ok. They apologized and said it just so happened I got two lemons but that shouldn’t put me off Motorola entirely. Great start to a Motorola relationship, huh? I told the service rep to report the 2 units that were previously given to me as the shipment it may have belonged to may be a troublesome batch. Anyways, 2 weeks later, my phone is still working (thank God!) but I can’t keep feeling like it just might conk out on me again…If that happens, it’ll be “Goodbye Moto, Hello Nokia!” for me forever.

Hear No Evil

One of my pet peeves is someone trying hard to speak in English (even when they’re obviously having such a dang time) just to impress. I’d rather you speak to me in Tagalog or Taglish or however way you’re more comfortable than try to talk to me in gibberish. Am I mean? It’s just that sometimes one’s patience can be stretched to its’ limit. Cases in point are these “classics” which I’m pretty sure most of you would’ve come across at one time or another:“Guys, let’s call it tonight!”

“All of a suddenly…”

“C’mon! Let’s get it on with it!”

“When it rains, it’s four.”

“Thanks God!”

“The nerves!” or “The nerd!”

“The idea crossed at the back of my mind.”

“(name of person), eat your hat out!”

“This is our rooster of clients…”

“The more the manyer.”

“It’s a no-win-win situation.”

“Burn the bridge when you get there.”

“Anulled and void.”

“Mute and academic.”

“C’mon let’s join us!”

“If worse comes to shove.”

“Are you joking my leg?”

“It’s not my problem anymore, it’s your problem anymore.”

“What are friends are for?”

“You can never can tell.”

“Well well well. Look do we have here!”

“Let’s give them a big hand of applause.”

“Been there, been that.”

“Forget it about it.”

“Give him the benefit of the daw.”

“It’s a blessing in the sky.”

“Right there and right then.”

“Where’d you came from?”

“Take things first at a time.”

“You’re barking at the wrong dog.”

“You want to have your cake and bake it too.”

“First and for all.”

“Now and there.”

“I’m only human nature.”

“The sky’s the langit.”

“That’s what I’m talking about it.”

“One of these days is not like the other.”

“So far, so good, so far.”

“Time is of the elements.”

“In the wink of an eye.”

“The feeling is actual.”

“For all intense and purposes.”

“I ran into some errands.”

“Hi. I’m (state your name), what’s yours?”

“What is the world is coming to?”

“What is the next that is?”

“Get the most of both worlds.”

“Bahala na sila sa mga batman nila.”

“Whatever you say so.”

“Base-to-base casis.”

“My answers have been prayered.”

“Please me alone!”

“It’s as brand as new.”

“So… what’s a beautiful girl like you?….”

“I can’t take it anymore of this!”

“Are you sure ka na ba?”

“Can’t you just cut me some slacks?”

“I couldn’t care a damn!”

“What’s your next class before this?”

“Nothing in this world is perfect except the word change.”

“Can you repeat that for the second time around once more from the top? Translation: Ulitin natin hanggang mamatay tayo.)

“My dad brought home a lot of hand-me-downs!” Translation: Daming pasalubong ng tatay ko.

“Standard & Chartered bank”

“I’m very iterated! Translation: Galit sya!

“I’m sorry, my boss just passed away.” Translation: Kakadaan lang ng boss nya.

“Hello, my boss is out of town, would you like to wait?”

“What happened after the erection of Mayon volcano?”

“Don’t touch me not!”

“Hello,..for a while, please hang yourself…”

“It’s spilled milk under the bridge.”

“Don’t change anything! Keep it at ease.”

“Hello McDo, mag-i-inquire lang ako kung magkano ang kidney meal?”

“Out of fit ako these days e…” Translation: Di sya nakakapag-exercise.

“Bring down the house down!”

“Reality is an illusion created by a lack of alcohol.”

“Burds of the same feather flock together.”

“Ang ganda ng refrigenator!”

“Thanks and advanced!”

Psst…Been Ratified Yet?

Imagine my utter delight when my friend, (and blog designer), Riz, asked me to check out this site and found:

She was #4. And guess what moi’s ranking was? #5! Un-freaking-believable! Its’ headline proclaims “Ratified.org measures the top 100 blogs of the Philippine blogosphere. Electro-charged by über-geeky Technorati data sprinkled with Feedburner stats”. Really now? Hmmm. I’m miles behind the leader of the pack – Bryan Veloso’s Rebirth – but hey, I’m happy. Let’s just hope I don’t get dislodged from my current ranking soon…hehehe.technorati tags: , , ,

The Long Wait…

The latest OOTP (Order Of The Phoenix to ordinary muggles) trailer is finally out! I can hardly wait for it to be shown, especially when this came on while I was watching Wild Hogs:

Same interminable wait for fanatics like me for the last installment of Harry’s fascinating saga:

Feast One Hundred & Thirty Nine

Appetizer
When you were a child, which crayon color was your favorite?
I was so in love with the colors cornflower, magenta and periwinkle that these were always the first colors I’d run out of. Then I’d end up asking my mom to buy me a whole new box of Crayola’s 64 colors to replenish my supply.Soup
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how likely would you be to change jobs if it required you to move?

Probably an 8. Hey, if the compensation package is good, the job challenging and the place has promise, why not?Salad
Take all the numbers in your birthday and your phone number and add them up, one by one. What’s the total?

77! The breakdown’s a secret, though…hahaha!Main Course
Have you ever “re-gifted” anything? If so, what was it and who did you pass it on to?.

I distinctly recall having received so many bottles of body lotion one Christmas that I couldn’t imagine using them all up. Really, the best solution then was to give some of them away (only to my sister, though, AND I didn’t rewrap).

Dessert
Name something you need from the store.

Toothpaste and hair conditioner!
