Nostalgia Baby!

I admit it. I am a card-carrying member, nay fan, of my friend, Nostalgia Manila‘s website. So you can imagine how over the moon I was to learn that I am the current featured Bloggista in his widely popular website. For those of you who haven’t heard of his site yet, get with the program already! He takes everyone who comes by (whether on purpose or by chance) on a wonderful journey of both happy and sad memories, leaving all of us wanting for more. His fame has gained by leaps and bounds in the past few months that he is up for 3 major awards in the 2007 Phil Blog Awards being held on March 31st.

Name the fondest memory you had while growing up and you would most likely find it in Nostalgia Manila. Dig up much-beloved episodes of Sesame Street or Electric Company, Jingle Song Hits favorites, flashback images, architecture and fashion even from way back when. You definitely see all the care and detail that goes into every post. I guarantee you’ll very easily get addicted into making daily visits to his blog.

AI Fearless Forecast

My vote is hands-down on Melinda Doolittle after this performance:
What’s more, she looks to be a real nice person, too.

I also like LaKisha Jones
and Jordin Sparks

Seems to me that the girls are more talented than the boys this season. Do you agree?

Words Of Wisdom

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don’t worry about what people think, they don’t do it very often.

3. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

4. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you’ve never tried before.

5. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

6. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of cheques.

7. A conscience is what hurts when all of your other parts feel so good.

8. Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it.

9. A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.

10. Middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places.

11. Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.

12. Junk is something you’ve kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it.

13. There is always one more imbecile than you counted on.

14. Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

15. By the time you can make ends meet, they move the ends.

16. Never lick a steak knife.

17. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

18. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

19. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

20. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above average drivers.

21. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

22. Thought for the day: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark…a large group of professionals built the Titanic.

Photo Hunt: Architecture

Taken during my recent Hong Kong trip. The 1st photo shows off the spectacular nightly light show which the city boasts of. The 2nd gives you an idea of the breathtaking view of the skyline as seen from the top of Victoria Peak. Last one is a shot I took of the intricately crafted floating restaurant while on board a sampan boat.

Feast One Hundred & Thirty Four

Appetizer
What is your usual bedtime? Do you like that, or would you rather it be different?

I’m a nocturnal animal – I feel most energetic at night so regular bedtime for me would be no earlier than midnight. During weekends and when I’m on vacation, I am so hyped, I have a hard time falling asleep and end up reading or watching DVDs till I see dawn break over the horizon.

Soup
When it comes to advice, do you give more or receive more?

I am usually on the receiving end of (unsolicited) advice everyday from by boss – hahaha! She always has something to say about the facts of life – regardless of whether it is applicable to those listening.

Salad
Describe a memorable meal you’ve had.

I just love Spanish food! I remember one time when I attended a friend’s party and had the best gastronomic experience ever. Our feast consisted of jamon serrano (traditional Spanish cured ham served with chopped fresh tomato and olive oil), chorizo de pamplona (thin slices of home made cured chorizo), gambas al ajillo (shrimps sauteed in olive oil, garlic, & chili pepper), calamares fritos (deep fried squid served with aioli sauce), paella valenciana (Valencian dish with chicken, pork, seafood, & vegetables), paella pilipino (paella with sisig & cochinillo), salpicado de solomillo (chunks of tenderloin with olive oil, garlic, & Espagnole sauce), cangrejos al thang long (baked king crabs with garlic & butter sauce), lengua sevillana (stewed ox tongue with mushroom & olives in rich sherry brown sauce), cochinillo asado (tender oven roasted suckling pig) and chicken galantina (chicken galantine) topped by my favorite dessert of all time – canonigo (delectably soft melt-in-your-mouth meringue cake). I wanted to stay there forever!

Main Course
Name a work of fiction that affected the way you think about something.

Paulo Coelho’s bestseller, The Alchemist. Never could forget the line that goes, “If you want something badly enough, the entire universe will conspire to give you what you want!”

Dessert
What is your favorite type of fruit juice?

Lemonade and watermelon! Yum!
